After the stupendous success of SS Rajamouli's magnum opus, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, doors have opened for regional cinema. Actor-producer Dhanush, who is gearing up for the release of his Velai Illa Pattathari 2 (VIP2), is cashing in on the victory of the cinematic masterpiece. The Hindi dubbed version of Baahubali 2 amassed a whopping Rs 510 crore net.

Taking a cue from Baahubali 2, Dhanush has released the trailer of VIP 2 in Hindi. The film will also be dubbed in Telugu. Interestingly, the Hindi dubbed version has been titled Lalkar, in a bid to reach out to a wider audience, especially in North India.

Speaking to media, Dhanush said, "Nobody can take away the success of Baahubali, especially what it has done to Indian cinema. It has really given us a great lesson, even Dangal for that matter. What it did in the overseas market is unbelievable. It's phenomenal! Perhaps we were underestimating our market. And we cannot deny the fact that the aforementioned films have given us a boost."

Kajol, who is making her comeback in Tamil with VIP 2, said, "For that matter, look at Avengers in the Hindi dubbed version. It's not only us to them, it's them to us as well. It's like an entire market has opened up both ways. Only takeaway is that nothing can stop a good film. And you can take it anywhere."

Dhanush has worked in two Hindi films- Anand L Rai's Raanjhanaa and R Balki's Shamitabh. However, the Kolaveri star believes that the line between Bollywood and regional cinema seems to be diminishing with each passing day.

"I think that circle is shrinking and it's going to be gone very soon. It's easier to expand your boundaries and explore new regions for your films now. It's healthy, especially right now with digital platforms taking over," said Dhanush.

Velai Illa Pattathari 2, directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, is all set to hit the screens on July 28.
