I was shocked and hurt by Rajamouli - Sridevi

There was a time when the Khans and superstars of Bollywood ruled the industry. But not anymore. Recently, lesser known and much more deserving artists have been getting a lot of recognition for being a part of movies that are worth everyone's time. And although it's okay for an artist to be or not to be a part of someone's movie for their own reasons, we are not sure if it's right on the director's part to reveal reasons for their rejection.
When Baahubali became a mega hit, people not only admired the efforts of the actors in the movie but also discussed bad luck of those who refused to be a part of the movie. One among those was Sridevi.  Apparently, Rajamoui had offered the role of Sivagami to Sridevi as he was quite confident of Sridevi being able to do justice to it. When he was asked the reasons for her rejection, he said that the remuneration she asked for was beyond their budget.

And Sridevi wasn't quite happy listening to this. Recently, she expressed her disappointed in an interview and said that she was shocked and hurt by what he said.

Mid-Day quoted her saying, "I was shocked and hurt by his interview. Rajamouli is a calm and dignified person. I was very happy to (have got a chance to) work with him. But, the way he spoke about the issue made me feel very sad."

Asserting that her starry tantrums wouldn't have got her a place in the industry, she added, "People would have sent me packing if I was like that. I don't know if the producer wrongly told Rajamouli that I made all these demands, but it is not in good taste to speak like this."

Although we can't tell if Rajamouli's actions were ethically right or wrong, we can tell this for sure that there's nobody else we'd like to imagine in place of the supremely talented Ramya Krishnan for Sivagami's role.
